Rigsby were formed by five Huddersfield University students following a very drunken evening and several arguments about music. The fledgling talents were snapped up by local record label Flood, and soon built up a strong reputation and loyal fanbase for their live sets and hook-laden, melodic songs. An early single was even featured on the season finale of Channel 4 show
Teachers.
Alas, just as things were progressing nicely, the record company folded and the band were forced to take a break from music for a while (jobs, babies, that sort of thing). Thankfully the band re-materialised in late summer 2008 with a new drummer, and in late 2009 became the first major signing for new independent label
Brightblack Records. 2010 promises to be an exciting time for this Huddersfield/Manchester five-piece.
